OK, I think I'm starting to permit myself to exhale. Barack, I do believe you have pulled this miracle off. Go on, measure the drapes. Michelle, get those girls into a good Washington D.C. school. All of you, enjoy the last months of "normal," whatever that is for your family. It will never be the same.
As for us, there's still one crucial one thing we have to do. Vote.
And not only vote, but help get out the vote. Florida taught us that every vote counts. Every new registration is useless unless you vote. I'm taking Election Day off to drive folks to the polls. The Obama office on Spring Street has a sign up list, and NAACP is also looking for drivers. If you can help, call me, I'll get you plugged in.
The ballot in Georgia is complicated. It's not just about Obama/McCain. There are school board issues, Congress and Senate elections. We even have a chance to unseat Saxby Chambliss, who slimed Max Cleland six years ago. John Lewis is up again. There's an amendment on Tax Allocation Districts (TADS) that will have impact on the Beltline. The AJC has a voter guide and a feature where you can type in your zip code and see how the ballot looks in your district. Study up, be prepared. There's so much at stake.
Oh, and one more teeny little miracle. Over at Project Runway, talent triumphed too. Leanne won. Yeah I know, I know, she's a strange and mousy weirdo, but her clothes are beautiful and different with wave-like petals of fabric, impeccable tailoring and incredible flow.
