On top of all the tomatoes and zukes that are bursting forth from our gardens and jamming our refrigerators, foodies are having a feast discussing some new books and controversial articles about the future of cooking and the locavore movement, pro and con.
And for sheer fun, the opening of Julie & Julia is at hand! Here's one more film event for food obsessed Atlantans:
A special screening of the film FRESH. FRESH
celebrates the farmers, thinkers and business people across America who
are re-inventing our food system. Among several main characters, FRESH
features urban farmer and activist, Will Allen, a 2008 MacArthur’s
“Genius Award” fellow; sustainable farmer and entrepreneur, Joel
Salatin, made famous by Michael Pollan’s book, the Omnivore’s Dilemma;
and supermarket owner, David Ball, who is creating a new market model
for our family farmers. FRESH’s focus on these inspiring individuals
and their initiatives around the US provides the audience with
actionable solutions. FRESH is a call to action.
FRESH will be shown Wednesday, August 12th at Congregation Shearith Israel, 1180 University Drive, Atlanta, GA 30306 from 5:45-7:00. CSA members and non-members are welcome. Pass the word and join us for a great evening!
